Reasoning

Wow…my son is growing up. He’s learning the process of Reasoning:

Jay: I made Wesley cry this morning
[9:45:19 AM] Jay: I got out pants shirt shoes
[9:45:37 AM] Jay: he saw them and said he wanted to keep on his PJ's
[10:03:27 AM] Jay: so I said I hear you won’t go PP in the Potty at lydia's if you have your PJ's on so you need to start getting dressed before you go
[10:03:37 AM] Jay: then it clicked
[10:03:42 AM] Jay: he said
[10:03:57 AM] Jay: "If I pp in the potty can I keep on my PJ's?"
[10:04:03 AM] Jay: And he did

Wesley’s Christmas Stories

Lights:
[8:25:47 AM] Jay: you know the lights by Costco you can see from 85?
[8:26:12 AM] Jay: he saw those and then he pointed to the Costco sign and said ABC's
[8:26:22 AM] Mickie: oh yea..I've shown him that
[8:26:30 AM] Mickie: well, that's cool..
[8:26:43 AM] Mickie: I'm glad he's thinking it's ABC's
[8:26:49 AM] Jay: “People are getting ready for Christmas and have to learn their ABC's so they can read to their MOM's”

Going to Southern California for Christmas:
[11/30/2009 9:44:36 AM] Jay: We were telling Wes that mom was going home today
[11/30/2009 9:44:51 AM] Jay: and we would go to her house next time
[11/30/2009 9:44:57 AM] Jay: Then in the car he said
[11/30/2009 9:45:30 AM] Jay: we go to grammy's house and bring shirts and pants and big boy under pants and pants to grammy

Christmas Trees:
(Facebook) Jay Hann Wes saw a car today with a Christmas tree on top. He started cracking up and pointing saying," That car has hair!"

Jammie Pants

I take a shower at night. Before I took a shower tonight, I grabbed my PJ Top and underwear. I couldn't find my PJ pants anywhere, so I decided to wear the sweats I had on before the shower. After I read Wes a book, he noticed that I didn't have my PJ pants on. He said, "mommy, where are your Jammie pants?" I told him I couldn't find them so I wore my sweats. "But mommy, you need to wear your Jammie Pants. Those pants are stinky." Where did he get stinky?!? I would expect dirty, but stinky?!? Now I feel like I have to smell them...

The Holidays

Jay Instant Messaged me this morning:

Jay: I told wes grammy was coming
he got mad
"No we go find grammy's house."
"How can we find the airplane?"

Well, looks like our boy is ready for Christmas down in Southern California! He's been wanting to see what his Grammy's house looks like after her last visit.

So tomorrow will be one week since potty training..(yes, we've been late on this). But despite the lateness, he's been doing really well. He's taken to it a lot faster than I hoped. At first, he was having issues with going in a place other than his home. At daycare they asked him if he had to go potty. He told them, "I only pee-pee at home". Luckily, he got over that by Wednesday. And despite him having an issue with #2 at home (which is has also told daycare, "I only poo-poo at home"), he did it last night! Next agenda, Nighttime and going to the potty at a public restroom.

Even though we're thinking of enrolling him in pre-school in Fall of 2010, I'm already having to research pre-schools. I thought I could wait until the beginning of the year. Nope. It's so crazy! There was one preschool that has one Open House in the beginning of January! How crazy is that?!?

I had found some old measuring cups and measuring spoons. I gave it to Wes last week. I couldn't believe how excited he got. He was shouting, "Daddy! I need Salt! I need Sugar! I need Flour! I need my Ladder! (so he can work on the prep table)" He was all ready to make some crazy cooking concoction. Guess we might have an Iron Chef on our hands. Last time he made some mash potato/gravy/goldfish cracker/candy sprinkles from a cupcake...yum. Another time it was flour, soy sauce, and candy sprinkles from a cupcake. Boy, that was was nasty. He tried to get us to taste it, we told him no, you try. As picky as he is, he actually tried it! Course he made a face afterwards knowing that his recipe was a bomb.

Oh and if you haven't seen this already on Facebook, here is Wes' tiger costume that I had to alter since it was a 12-18 month old costume. He only wanted this one because it had a hoodie and zipper on it.

More Conversations

•In Jay’s car on the way to Daycare: “you see first you need chips, and water on your head...and you go down to the store the mountain its gone... a green shark at the store and a pink shark in the water sharks in the water daddy. Don’t drink it don’t drink the water its yucky eww yucky water” (whaaaa? Me no understand)

•“Good job, Mommy”

•Wes was picking food off my plate and I said teasingly to Jay,
“Daddy, Wesley is stealing food off my plate!”
Wes’ response, “Hey Mommy, you need to share”

•Wesley and his 1 ½ year old cousin Jamie’s conversation:

W: You go over there…(blah, blah, blah)
J: Hi
W: Now go do….(blah, blah, blah)
J: Hi
W: (blah, blah, blah)
J: Hi
(I can see they’ll be having some intellectually stimulating conversations on their trip to Hawaii next week)

•Jay watching Wes trying to pee in the Potty
Jay: “Can you go pee-pee?”
Wes trying, nothing is coming out
Wes, looking down at his p.enis: “No Daddy, my Pee-Pee (p.enis) is closed.”

Wesley Sayings

I normally take my shower right after I put Wes to bed. As I said Goodnight to him:
“Mommy you go take a shower, you go wash your boo-dies. You’re boo-dies dirty.”

As I tell him we won’t be able to go to the place he wants to go
“It’s ok, Mommy. Maybe next time”

When we were driving home on Saturday night and Jay asks him if he wants milk:
“No, no thanks, Daddy. I’m a little tired.”

When I ask him to put away something:
“No, no thanks Mommy” or “Sorry, I can’t”

“Mommy you need to stay home for me”

Random Stuff

Squirrel
More Squirrel news. Wes decided to take squirrel out to the school yard with him. As he’s running across the field, it’s squeaking under his arm (since it is a dog toy). He stops and turns to Jay and says, “Daddy, it’s talking!”

A Clue

Wes has been starting to get into the TV show, Blue’s Clues. I like that show. I enjoyed it when Emma was a toddler. If you don’t know what it is, it’s about Steve (now a new guy, Joe) and his dog blue. Steve tries to solve what Blue wants to do by the 3 clues she gives him. She puts her paw print an item to tell Steve that this is the clue.

Well, I had recently bought some Softwalk flip flops online at a discount. So comfy! I hadn’t thrown away the shoe box and left it in the kitchen. Wes sees the box in the kitchen:

He brings the lid of the box to me and says, “A Clue! A Clue!”

Bell

Last night I had to retrieve a bell from last bunko game (that we play about once a month after dinner) from a friend’s house. Since I’ve had to do a couple of stops at some friend’s houses the last couple of nights, Wes has been saying to me, “Mommy, you can’t go to Bunko”. I reply back, “Sweetie, I’m not going to Bunko.” He reply’s back “Mommy, you can’t go to Bunko.” Over and Over! I read a blog a while back where her daughter would repeat the same question over and over. Someone told her it was because they keep doing that until they hear the answer they want to hear. Ah Ha! So finally I replied, “No, I’m coming home with you.” That seemed to work!

So, we retrieved the bell and are walking back to the school. Wes is ringing the bell so much, people at the school are turning around looking for the ice cream man to appear. One 4 year old in particular got really interested in the bell. He was gravitated to bell. It looked like English might be his second language, but Jay and I thought there was something “different” about him. He kept saying, “Bell…Bell” while following Wes around. We tried several times to get Wes to share since the other child was SO focused on it. Wes wouldn’t have it. Probably a little intimated by him and being a typical toddler with sharing issues. So we told the parents, maybe tomorrow. The parents were cool about it. Wes had a fall earlier and was being a whiny about his barely skinned knee. So he wanted to be carried. As I’m crossing the field to head home and Wes is ringing the bell, I hear this crying, “BELL!!!..BELL!!!!” The 4 year old was following us! He’s having a meltdown. I hear “BELL…BELL!!!” get closer and closer! I refuse to look back and pick up the pace. We got ourselves a stalker. I whisper to Wes, “Shush, don’t ring the bell, it’s getting the boy upset.” Wes whispers back, “Ok, Mommy.” Thank goodness the parents stopped him in the middle of the field by the time we got to our gate. “BEEEEELLLLL!!!!!!” Yikes! Ok, I’m done. I’m off to find a bell at World Market at lunch.

Squirrels and Bood-dies

It was so hot this weekend! Luckily we had 3 room air conditioners running in our house. It took us 4 years, but now things are pleasant in the whole house on a hot day. Sunday, we decided to go to lunch, then go to the pet store get away from the heat. It’s a cheap way to entertain the kid with animals. Apparently, we are not the only ones who do this.

After looking at all the rodents, fish, and reptiles; we trek over to the dog toys. Wes grabs a stuffed squirrel. Jay asks Wes, “Oh, is this for Rudy?” “No.” “But these are toys for Rudy” Wes replies, “No, Rudy has his toys. This is mine”. Aye Ya. So, no animal for Rudy, but maybe with Wes having this furry squirrel, he won’t need my pony tail as a security blanket. We finally got a name out as to what this squirrel’s name is. It’s “Skuirel”. Apparently, I need to teach my son about the proper way on how to name his stuff animals. Hmmm, or maybe it’s a girl thing to name your stuff animals?

That night, I caught Jay lovingly tucking in “Skuirel” in a blanket for Wes to find in the morning. I enjoy these little surprises that he does:

Wesley has a fascination with “Bood-dies”. I got a Victoria Secret catalog in the mail the other day. Wes looks over my shoulder, smiling, as I’m flipping through the pages. As I set it down on the couch, he takes the magazine and starts flipping through the pages with his flashlight whispering “bood-dies”…”bood-dies”. Jay is watching him with a smug look on his face, thinking that’s my boy, he’s starting early!

Later that day, Wes says, “I want to see male Bood-dies.” I said out loud to myself, “What is he talking about?” Jay replies, painfully, “He was looking at the TV. He saw (the commercial for) the Biggest Loser.” OH!!! HA, HA! I said, “I guess you’ll have to tell him the difference between female bood-dies and male bood-dies.” “Yea, female bood-dies, good. Male bood-dies, not good.”

I thought about that “Bood-die” incident again as we are getting ready for bed and started laughing. Jay replies, distrurbed, “That's not funny.”

After a Hard Day's Work

Today, Wes wanted to have Jay lay down with him for a supposed nap. After a little bit of lying around, he told Jay he couldn't stay because he had to clean the kitchen. After Wesley mopped the kitchen floor, (yes, he mopped the kitchen floor - which he did a pretty good job), he said, "Daddy, do you want some juice?" I open the Refrigerator and found Wes' juice box in the way back shelf. As I was bending down and reaching for it, Wes comes around and grab's Daddy's juice from inside the refirgerator door and hands it to him. It was a beer bottle. Yep, we don't need a servant. We got one right here and he's free.

Tiger Toes

Wesley has these bulbous big toes. When he’s climbing on you, those toes tend to find your sensitive bits and really dig into your meat or bone. Jay started naming them his “Tiger Toes”. Hie-Ya! So now, when one his toes gets us, we usually say, “Ouch, your Tiger Toes hurt!” Last Friday, Jay was getting Wesley up. Rudy came following into the bedroom. As Jay turns away to get Wes ready, he sees Wes stroking Rudy’s back and saying over and over, in a soft voice, “Tiger Toes, Tiger Toes….”

Plungers & Lemons

Yep, he's pretty flexible.

We visited my parents this weekend. Jamie and Erin came to visit as well. It was such a nice day, we hung out alot in the backyard. Wes and Jamie got to feed the fish in the pond. Then, Wes and Jamie decide to walk over to the side of the house. As I follow them and turned the corner, I see Wesley with a old plunger in his hand. The plunger part was pushed against the side of this face and he's saying., "Hello...Hello?" He was using it as a telephone! EWWWWW!

In other news, I read on a woman's blog about a non toxic way to stop spiders from invading your house. Use Lemon Juice. So decided to try it. I took a lemon and rub some juice into the ceiling corners of my kitchen by my sink. It actually worked! It's been about a couple of weeks and no spiders. The only thing is that I found some more spider webs, on the places I didn't put the juice on. Hmmm..I'm going to have to work on this problem some more.

His Birthday Card sent to Sprout

His Birthday Card was shown on TV!!! Since Wes was outside, I recorded it just in case they showed his card. When Jay, Wanda, and Wes were inside, I showed them the DVD recording. We were all excited, except Wes. He didn't care. He was too busy playing with his new birthday toys. Aye Ya. Well, I'm glad I recorded it so he can see it when he is older.

During the Birthday Card reading, they only choose 2 cards to show. So out of 27 cards that were sent in, we did pretty good. Jay told me his co-worker has tried to get her kid's birthday cards on Sprout for 3 years! She's trying to strategize what she'll do next time, like having her sister who scrapbooks make the card. So, since this was my first time, I feel really good! Hee, hee, hee!

Happy 3rd Birthday!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Wes!

I can't believe you're 3 today. Seems so short, but also so long. I sent in your birthday card to PBS Sprout. I'm really hoping they will read it on TV today! But, if they don't, they did post it on the web! Crossing my fingers! Of course, it's the last one.

Ok, I've never linked a website before, so hopefully I am doing this right. (I've added it below in case the other way does not work)

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Big Boy Bed

This past weekend we took the plunge and got Wes a bed. Not a Toddler bed, but a Twin bed. We kept going back and forth of whether we would go for a Toddler or a Twin. We finally decided on a Twin. Since we’ll be going to Hawaii in July and he’s almost 3, we thought it was finally time. And, for the past couple of months he’s been pretending he’s sleeping in a bed. He’ll get a pillow and a blanket, cover himself up and say, “Good Night, Mommy!” He has never slept in our bed before, didn’t like pillows or blankets in his crib; so I was a little wary as to how he was going to react to a bed.

I was hearing on the radio last week that all these mattress stores were having extended end of the year clearance sales. So, we thought it would be a good time. Friday and Saturday we talked to him about getting a Big Boy Bed. No response. Saturday morning we went to the mattress store. He didn’t seem interested in the beds. He was more interested in the children’s toys and little bench they had there. We were ready to leave the store before he was! Oh, and by the way, what “Sales” are the mattress stores talking about?!? Dealing with them in the past, I think we got a good deal. Wes got a regular Twin bed with Headboard.

Sunday morning, Jay took his crib down. But left the mattress in the room. We waited all day for the delivery men. They didn’t show up til 5:30pm. Finally got the bed all set up by 7pm. When Jay set it up, he had to move Wes’ crib mattress against the desk. When it was completed, Wesley didn’t care. He was too busy climbing up and sliding down his crib mattress.

When it was time to go to bed, he jumped into his bed and said, “Good Night, Mommy” with a smile, and feel asleep.

Faces

It's been a long time since I last post. Since's it been 3 years (yep, 3 years) let me know if you would rather check in on your own instead of getting these automatic posts. At the time I did the automatic posts, I thought it would be easier for some people to read instead of always having to go to the site itself. I totally understand if you would rather not receive these automatic posts. Just let me know and I can take you off the subscription list.

Now back to my blog, sometimes you just wonder where kids come up with some things. My only response is either from his favorite show "Caillou" or roll my eyes that "it must be daycare". For instance, when he talks about Spiderman or "Mac-a-Mouse". We don't see either of these shows. Conclusion, "it must be daycare".

So here is a video of Jay drawing faces with Wes.

I don't remember as a kid ever drawing eyebrows. Yes, you have the main parts...face, eyes, nose, mouth..but eyebrows?!? Gotta make sure he puts in the eyebrows. Where did he get that? Must be daycare...
