22 Months

When did Wesley learn his ABC’s?!? A couple of weeks ago, he was listening to his “Fridge DJ” a Leapfrog Radio that his Auntie Erin, Uncle Mike, and Jamie gave him for Christmas. All of a sudden, he starts to sing along with the ABC’s song. He wasn’t copying what the voice was saying, but actually singing right along. He didn’t get all the letters right, but he did pretty good. Jay and I are wondering if it’s daycare. They added a part-time pre-school teacher to our home daycare. He must be learning more that we think…like putting his hand over his mouth when he coughs…I’m embarrassed to say that I know we didn’t teach him that!

He’s been talking like crazy too. When I have given him something, he sometimes says, “Thank you, Ma-ma”. He can’t say “Thank You” very clearly, but I know that’s what he’s trying to say. He’s able to string 3 words together. He had his favorite lovey (his polyester fill – don’t ask. At least he doesn’t have to have the same old stuff. We are able to replace it with new stuff) in the bathtub with Jay. Somehow it got into his eye. So, as he’s in the tub blinking his eye, he tells Jay, “Fuzz, Eye, DA-da Fuzz EYE”.

He also hasn’t used “Wesley’s ____”, but instead has used “My ____”. Already using prepositions!

Wesley's First Potty

Happy New Year! After reading a baby newsletter that I get in an email about Potty training, we decided to get Wes a Potty. He is only 21 months old, but he was showing signs of the following: telling us he poo-poo'd, wanting to watch us use the potty, having an interest in the toilet, going at a certain time each day. He hasn't been able to pull his pants down yet, but we thought at least get him used to seeing a potty. We weren't expecting much, but I took a video as soon as we took it out from the box.
