Best Commute This Morning

I had the best commute today! I know, who ever has that? Well, especially since I’ve been a having a crappy couple of weeks so far, this was especially great. I was driving to work this morning, kinda zoning out, driving the speed limit, keeping a good distance in the car in front of me. I look over to my left and see a white CHP car. Check my speedometer and see that I’m only going 60 miles/hr. It’s pretty packed with cars once I get into the Redwood city area. I pass him up and he then gets behind me. Ok, that’s fine. Next thing I know, another car decides to squeeze in to the left of me and I have to brake hard. We’ve all had that before. You’re mad, but can’t do anything about it, but think or say dirty words. As soon as that car pushed itself into my lane, I see the CHP pull out behind me, speed up and turn on the lights! He pulled that car over! Whoo Hoo! That was so cool! Finally, Justice! It gave me a great start to my morning. Let’s hope the rest of the day goes just as good!

Wedding Day

The wedding of my two co-workers took place at the Fairmont Hotel on the beach. Luckily we rented a GPS. I didn't realize how far it was from the main strip. 25 miles of a two way highway. The guests were suppose to arrive by 3:30pm and the wedding to start at 4pm. I was getting a little worried we would not make it. We got there at 3:45 and then had to go through the hotel and out the back to a long walkway where the ceremony and reception was going to be held. After all that, the wedding actually didn't start til after 5! There was a little drama with the bridal party. The make-up artist showed up at 9am, but her helper didn't. It literally took til 5pm before she was able to finish everyone. Other than that, everything was great. It was an emotional wedding. The groom cried his "I dooooooooo!" (which me and another co-worker will be giving him grief at work... "Michelle, do you have any paper over there?" "yes, I doooooooo!") It was so cute! The bride also had a hanky to wipe his face. The food was excellent and too much! There was too much food! Frois Grai (sp?), Goat cheese wonton, bacon-wrapped scallops, Kobe beef were the appetizers. Then they had lomi lomi salmon, Poke, Kalua Pig, fried rice, Potatoes, etc, etc. You could not put everything on your plate. You had to pick and choose carefully. Then for dessert, they had chocolate fondues, cheesecakes, etc. UGH...we were so stuff. SO STUFFED it was not funny. And, nobody cleaned their plates! Well, more later, my time is running out. Tomorrow is our last day in Paradise.

I think we are now on Hawaii time. We've been a little slow on the updates. Friday, we explored the shopping areas and had a great lunch that overlooked the ocean. Seafood, seafood, and more seafood! Friday night was the Rehearsal Dinner at Fujimamas. It looked like everyone who is attending the wedding made it for the dinner as well. 80 guests!

Yesterday, we went snorkeling. We thought we would need the snorkeling equipment all day, but it turned out we only used it for the hour. As fun as it was, you can only see so many Tangs, Butterfly fishes, and Puffers. But, it was a nice bay and wasn't too deep (which I like). Jay also wanted to check out the Harbor where he will be Deep Sea fishing on Tuesday morning. Good thing we did. The Captain never gave him a contact phone. We were having to go from place to place to find the right person to ask. Apparently, the boat that Jay and the guys will be on called the Intrepid recently just got sold. Nobody there knew who the name of the new captain. The Charter people had to dig a little and finally found him the contact. Whew! That was a little stressful. We also got to check out the Kona International Market. I have actually been shopping very little. Everything you see is the same old stuff. Stuff that looks cute, but when you get home, are you really going to use it?

Well, we are off to do some light exploring again today. We don't want to go too far since the wedding will be happening late afternoon. Don't need to get lost and miss the wedding. I'll let you know. Bye for now!

Day 1

Hi Everyone from Kona!

Day 1
Arrived in Hawaii just around lunch time. We started out in San Jose, then had to transfer to LAX, then to Hawaii. All airlines were on-time, which was great. The only bad thing about the trip was when Jay's neighbor across the way decided to bend over to get something. Jay got a good view of a big butt and him picking his boxers out of his pants...ewwww.

The condo we picked is great. Great ocean view, 1 bedroom, 2 bathrooms and a Lanai. We each get our own bathroom..yeah! For dinner last night, we ate tuna sashimi and seaweed salad that we bought from the grocery store. Cheap and great eats! We'll try and keep you updated.
