Poor Rudy

Sunday it wasn’t too hot down in here, but Jay decided to add water to the pool for Wes. Wes had a great time in the pool. He even wanted to get naked to play. That was a surprise. Our son usually likes to be covered up. Maybe it was because his diaper weighed about 5lbs from all the water that it soaked up. Wes is getting in and out of the pool all naked, running around the yard. Next thing we know, Wes is looking at his pee-pee, while he’s urinating on the dog! Aye-ya!

I’m keeping this short today. Gotta run. The parents are heading to Hawaii on Thursday morning without the boy. So, Aloha!

Yes, another post!

Oh Boy…How long has it been? I was going to write a couple of weeks ago to announce that Jay and I have been married 5 years. 5 Years?!? How did that happen? Then I forgot to write about it. Then I was going to write last week that Jay and I went on an Overnight trip as a trial period for Wes for when we go to Hawaii at the end of July. Then I forgot about that too. I’m not doing too well here with updating. So, here are the updates:

A non-Wesley update (yes, I try on occasion) On June 21st, Jay and I celebrated our 5th Anniversary. It doesn’t feel like that long. When I think back, during those 5 years, we got married, then got: a house, a dog, a car, a baby, and a car; in that order. That is a lot of things that happened in such a short period of time for us. But, it’s been great. Yes, we’re busier and we have to schedule and juggle things more (i.e. Wes), but we always seem to find time for each other. And thank goodness for Sk*ype. I get to “talk” to my husband throughout the day without interruption of the lil one. After 5 years, my husband is still my best friend.

Wanda is visiting here visiting us. She came up to help with the trial (or maybe I should say training) period to help Wesley prepare for the Hawaii trip Jay and I will be taking at the end of July. She’s been a big help with taking him to daycare and staying with him overnight. Since he is now 27 months, he’s been a lot more aware of things and has had separation anxiety that comes and goes over the past few months. Last weekend we decided to do an overnight trip to see how he would react. We decided to show him we were leaving on a trip and that we would see him the next day. Reaction? A little confused, asked where we were, but no crying. Jay and I are realizing that it might not be us, but he might have more separation anxiety when Grandma leaves! He’s always asking for this Grandma. For our overnight we stayed in Santa Clara. We actually saw a movie, “Hancock” (which was good), and actually had a dinner where we didn’t have to worry about what to pick (sushi, also g-uuuuu-d), and saw another movie, “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” (I liked that one too). We haven’t been that lazy in a while. I remember pre-Wesley there were times when you would sit around and be bored. Now, I don’t remember what “bored” means. Now, there is always something to do.

Yes, our son keeps us from getting “bored”. He’s had a few cases of hives (we call it his “itchies”) in the past and when he does, we put Calamine Lotion on it. Yesterday, in the car, we were having a long conversation. At one point, I was telling him that I had a headache and that my head had an owie. He responded, “Head, owie?…. Lotion.” Ok, Dr. Hann.

A few weeks ago, we had spread a couple of blankets on his bedroom floor. He loves to play with his blankets. They are his security. (His bibs are also a security, but that’s another story.) He woke up one morning and saw the blankets on the floor and told me, “I want to lie down.” Whoa! Where did all those words come from?

He is such a chatterbox now. And bossy. A couple of weeks ago Jay and I were eating Lamb for dinner. He comes over to me and says “ I want chicken”. I tear off a piece and while he eats it, I tell him, “No, it’s lamb”. He looks at me and says, “No, Mama, Chicken”. Sheesh.
