Not Quite a First Black Eye

 [3:17:13 PM] Jay: Wesley got hit in the eye at school

[3:17:18 PM] Mickie: oh no!

[3:17:21 PM] Jay: by a GIRL

[3:17:26 PM] Jay: she is troubled

[3:17:28 PM] Mickie: how did that happen?

[3:17:31 PM] Jay: and I took her to the office

[3:17:48 PM] Jay: well she is a pain and has hitting issues

[3:17:53 PM] Jay: it worked out ok

[3:18:12 PM] Jay: coz after wesley had a flock of girls sitting around him soothing him

[3:18:33 PM] Jay: I'm his best friend! NO YOUR NOT I AM! :D

[3:18:49 PM] Mickie: I bet you were enjoying that!

[3:19:17 PM] Mickie: did he cry?

[3:19:31 PM] Mickie: or was he being all tough for the girls?

[3:21:17 PM] Jay: yes he cried

[3:21:47 PM] Jay: I put her in time out and took him in and gave him a wet paper towel to put on his eye

[3:22:04 PM] Jay: when I got back from the office he had all the girls around him

[3:22:13 PM] Mickie: (chuckle)

[3:22:15 PM] Jay: so such is life some times

The Next Morning

Since we didn’t have a tooth for the tooth fairy, we used the plastic tooth necklace case that he got from his teacher (his teacher thinks of everthing!)

I told Wesley that we’re going to put it under his pillow. He asked me how big is the fairy. I said, “umm, Tinkerbell size” He replied, “How is she going to carry the tooth? It will be too big for her.” Then he asked me if she need to see his face. I said no, she’s shy. She likes to come when you’re asleep. He replied, “Good, then I can hide under the covers.”

The next morning…

[7:16:50 AM] Jay: I hear wesley from his room

[7:17:02 AM] Jay: (Wes) Hu? What? Its GONE!

[7:17:13 AM] Jay: (Wes) WOA! HEY DADDY!

[7:17:21 AM] Mickie: (chuckle)

[7:17:30 AM] Jay: (Wes) The tooth fairy came and brought me Pokemon cards

[7:17:55 AM] Jay: (Wes) If you leave a real tooth you get money, if you leave a plastic one you get pokemon cards

[7:18:03 AM] Jay: :D

Wesley Lost His First Tooth…Literally

[2:05:05 PM] Jay: Wesley's tooth came out at school. He had it in a plastic tooth necklace the teacher gave him to keep it in. He was so proud! :)

[2:05:21 PM] Jay: Then we stopped at Target to get some apple juice

[2:05:28 PM] Jay: and he kept opening it to look at it

[2:05:38 PM] Jay: then suddenly it was GONE

[2:08:15 PM] Mickie: aye ya

[2:08:42 PM] Mickie: did you find it?!?

[2:15:34 PM] Jay: NOPE

[2:15:40 PM] Mickie: :(

[2:15:46 PM] Jay: we were on the escalator when he said OH NO

[2:15:58 PM] Jay: then he was done with the necklace

Mickie: was he really upset?

[2:16:09 PM] Jay: I asked if he wanted to go back and look he said no

[2:16:11 PM] Jay: not so much

[2:16:17 PM] Mickie: that's good

[2:16:18 PM] Jay: I think I was more upset

[2:16:21 PM] Mickie: me too

[2:16:25 PM] Jay: whull

[2:16:28 PM] Jay: its the first tooth

he was so proud with the necklace and that it happened at school, he said he pulled it out himself

The parents are having a harder time letting it go than the child :) Guess we'll have the use that plastic tooth for under this pillow tonight...

Old School/New School - Kindergarten

Back in February, I applied to 5 different Charter Schools. Unfortunately, they were all out of our District. We were disappointed in what we were seeing with our local school. It was only a 10 minute walk from our house. I even tried applying to another school within our district. Right before school started, I didn't hear back from the Charters and the chosen district school was filled. We didn't have high hopes on the Charter since we heard it was difficult to get in. But was disappointed he couldn't get his chosen District School. Two weeks into the school year, we get not one, but two Charter Schools asking us if we would like to attend! By the time we finished filling out the application for the 1st one, the 2nd school called. But, we stucked with the 1st one. We really had a good feeling about it and were already on our way. Funny thing was that a couple of his preschool friends are also attending this new school and one is even his classmate. Even better! We were hesitant about the shock of changing schools and also not sure about him not having neighborhood friends. But after telling Wes about the new school, he was all for it! After two weeks at the old and now two weeks at the new, we see a huge difference. At the old school, there is a huge gap amongst the students in regards to their learning skills. Here is what we have discovered between the two schools:

I am so glad my sister told me about Charter schools. When Jay was talking to other parents at the old school who were unhappy, they never knew about Charter schools. Unfortunately, for them, applications were back in February. Now, they're trying to look at alternatives. Right now his homework seems daunting. But at the same time, we hope this early start will get him used to the routine of daily homework.

Cupcake Smoothie

My conversation with Jay this morning about Wesley:

[8:41:16 AM] Jay: he made a cup cake cookie smoothie

[8:41:27 AM] Jay: that has no cup cake or cookies in it

[8:41:34 AM] Jay: for you

[8:41:46 AM] Mickie: uh..what is it made out of?

[8:48:28 AM] Jay: marshmallow, candy sprinkles, sugar, soy milk and then lightly microwaved in a cup cake cup to bring out the flavor
